Enchanted Mountain Spirits, a New York State Farm Distillery, located in Jamestown, NY, is named after the Cattaraugus County Mountains and shares the colloquial name of The Enchanted Mountains with the Shehy Mountains, County Cork, Ireland. The highest peak being Knockboy, where the O’Neill family recipe [which is over 200 years old] for Poteen was born.
It all started on Labor Day 2014, where Matt and Mick were sitting around talking about things they would like to do. Mick stated, “Open a distillery.” To which, Matt replied, “Why don’t you?”. After lengthy talks and tons of research a business plan was hatched. After 18 months and some excellent support from the office of Senator Schumer, we had our federal approval. And it’s all been fun from there!
The Enchanted Mountain Spirits team: Matt is the business consultant. Mick is the Head Distiller. Joining these two muckers and bringing the blarney are the duo of Amanda “Mamma Mandy” Crider controlling day-to-day business operations and George "The Toof" Bogardus II as Assistant Distiller.
Poteen (pronounced Puh-Cheen) means “small pot” in Irish. It is a traditional Irish Spirit, basically a potato whiskey. Knockboy Poteen is never distilled above 160 proof, the traditional whiskey proof, which allows a typical whiskey nose and bite, but finishes sweet and smooth, and disappears in the throat.
Our Vodka is made using the same recipe as the Knockboy Poteen, but distilled 6 times to 190 proof and bottled at 80 proof. Our Vodka has a unique flavor profile and extremely smooth finish that will delight your taste buds.

O’Connor’s Mamma Juana.
Mamma Juana is a Jamaican style spiced white rhum made from New York knot-weed honey, Jamaican vanilla bean, cinnamon, allspice, and hand-shredded ginger. The recipe is from ‘grandfada’ Kingston living near O’Connor Mountain in Jamaica. It has a bold spicy flavor that is originally intended to be mixed with red wine. However, it also makes a mean 'Dark n' Stormy'!

Our spirits are ready when they are ready! We do not push heat, over-proof after distillation or short-cut any step of the process. We promise nothing but the best gets to you.

Each batch is diligently hand-crafted in our custom made copper pot stills using only the finest ingredients grown and produced in New York State. At Enchanted Mountain Spirits, we label bottles by hand. …hand dip the bottles in our signature copper wax to seal them ...and number each bottle by hand.
Oh yeah! Our batch size is 90-100 bottles. So, when we say hand-crafted, small batch spirits, you bet we mean it!
